April 9, 2020: Despite the world’s critical economic situation, Amer-Sil, the Luxembourg supplier of gauntlets and separators for industrial batteries, is facing strong demand, mostly from almost orders related to battery backup solutions, CEO Jan Peynsaert said on April 9.

“Operations at Amer-Sil Luxembourg are still going on as planned; the business is running as usual despite some specific measures,” said Peynsaert.

“For two weeks, office staff have been working from home as much as possible, thereby assuring regular contact both internally and with external parties. 

People onsite all need to wear masks and gloves and, on top of that, those in production have to follow special procedures related to specific scenarios.

“Many procedures Amer-Sil Luxembourg has implemented have been shared as best practices by its sister site Amer-Sil China, which has allowed the Luxembourg site to act rapidly and proactively (e.g. body temperature scans of all employees every four hours, disinfection of all areas and equipment every shift, clear segregation of eating zones).

“This has allowed Amer-Sil to continue operations on both its separator and gauntlet lines and to keep delivering to all their customers worldwide.”

Amer-Sil is also contributing to the global health effort by assembling batteries for hospitals and other critical applications that have immediate need, Peynsaert said.

Luxembourg went into lockdown on March 17, and by April 8 had noted 3,115 cases and 46 deaths.
