January 28, 2021: Lead acid and lithium battery firm GS Yuasa has expanded its range of SWL batteries with two new ones for UPS applications, it said on January 28.
The SWL4300 and SWL4300FR batteries are upgrades to previous models and provide 13% more power, the company claims.
The models have been launched by GS Yuasa’s European subsidiary, which is known as ‘Yuasa Battery’. It makes 850,000 batteries a year at its South Wales production facility, which opened in 1981.
“Our engineers are always trying to get more power without increasing the size of the battery and the SWL4300 and SWL4300FR have done exactly this,” said Mark Greer. general sales manager for the Reserve & Renewable Power Division at GS Battery Sales UK.
In November, Yuasa launched a project with Infinite Renewables, a UK renewable energy firm, to integrate hybrid lead/lithium batteries with wind and solar power sources in a batch of local energy centres for various applications.
The lead batteries for the hybrid installations are being made in the UK, with the lithium ones shipped in from Japan.
