September 9, 2021: As the battery industry revs up for the annual BCI Convention + PowerMart in San Diego beginning September 22, the female contingent can also look forward to the launch of a group to promote their work in the sector.

Tentatively named ‘Women in the Global Battery Industry’ (WGBI), the group aims to bring women in similar industries together to build relationships and exchange ideas and knowledge.

“The group’s programmes and activities will be intended to enhance members’ skills and experience, address challenges confronting the industry, and promote members’ career growth with the ultimate goal of increasing the number of women employed in the battery industry,” says BCI.

This year’s convention will hold its third annual Women in the Battery Industry Reception — this year sponsored by Calpine Energy Solutions — on the second evening of the conference between 5-6pm.

Further details of the WCBI, which will formally be launched in 2022, will be announced on the main stage on Friday September 24.
