LEAD-ACID BATTERIES COULD SEE LARGEST GROWTH IN AIRCRAFT SECTOR BY 2030

2022-08-10

December 16, 2021: A December 3 report has predicted that lead batteries will see the highest growth out of all battery segments in the global aircraft industry, with a revenue of $560 million by 2030.

This is a jump from the $290 million recorded in 2020, according to the ResearchandMarkets report Global Aircraft Battery Market Outlook 2021-2030: Growing Adoption of UAVs & Increasing Concerns for Aviation Emissions Driving Demand.

The North American market is expected to register the largest revenue, of $390 million by the end of 2030, up from $290 million in 2020.

The total aircraft battery market is estimated to garner a revenue of $1,070 million by the end of 2030, which means the lead battery industry will take just over half.

Lead batteries are still the most common type used in general aviation aircraft and are used for emergency power, auxiliary power and functions such as lights.

Increasing advances in battery technology and a growing focus on developing efficiency to meet operational challenges are other factors driving market growth, ResearchandMarkets says.

“Factors such as the growing adoption of unmanned aerial vehicles worldwide, owing to the increasing concerns for aviation emissions, followed by the surge in shipments of different types of aircrafts, are anticipated to drive the demand for aircraft batteries, and in turn accelerate the market growth,” it says.
